A Spud Bar is a long handled tool with a blade on the end. It is used to remove carpet or other soft flooring off concrete. Although this still requires a great deal of hands on work to pull the flooring up, the use of a spud bar makes the removal process substantially easier.

Two people are needed to use this method, one to hold the carpet and one to manipulate the spud bar. There are two kinds of spud bars: manual and air powered (pneumatic).
